Stevens Aerospace Completes 1000th Garmin G1000 King Air Installation
Greenville, S.C. - Stevens Aerospace and Defense Systems, LLC (Stevens) is pleased to announce that they have completed the 1000th Garmin King Air G1000 NXi installation. This 1000th installation was performed on one of the U.S. Army’s C12 Huron King Air aircraft and installed at Stevens’ Greenville, SC installation center. Stevens has completed more than 40 G1000 NXi installations on the U.S. Army’s fleet of C-12 Huron aircraft and is the exclusive installer on this fleet of aircraft. Stevens has been installing G1000 Integrated Flight Decks since their release in 2009 and continues to successfully complete these installations every month at both of their Garmin authorized installation centers located in Nashville, TN (KMQY) and Greenville, SC (KGYH). As one of Garmin’s top installation centers, Stevens continues to upgrade King Air avionics with partial to full panel Garmin modifications including Garmin’s Autothrottle/Auto-Land system for the King Air G1000 NXi.
To maintain mission readiness of the U.S. Army's C-12 fleet through 2050, the Army initiated a comprehensive avionics modernization effort. The Garmin G1000 NXi was selected as the fleet's next-generation avionics solution, and Stevens was awarded the contract to perform the upgrades. “Feedback from Army aircrews has been overwhelmingly positive. Warfighters report that the Garmin retrofit, enhanced by the Autothrottle system, reduces cockpit workload, improves ease of operation, and delivers outstanding flight performance, helping ensure the C-12 remains a capable and mission-ready platform for decades to come”, said Jim Williams, VP Government Operations at Stevens Aerospace. “It is an honor for Stevens to continue to support the U.S. Army warfighters.”
“The 1000th Garmin digital cockpit installation is more than an industry milestone—it is a tangible example of Army Aviation’s continuous transformation and commitment to delivering ready, resilient capability to the force. By replacing aging analog systems with reliable, data-enabled G1000 NXi technology, we are mitigating obsolescence, reducing lifecycle maintenance burdens, and improving operational readiness”, said LTC (P) James B. Hickey, Project Manager, Fixed Wing. “This modernization gives fixed wing Army Aviators enhanced situational awareness and decision advantage while reducing cognitive workload, enabling them to execute complex missions more effectively in demanding and contested operational environments. This achievement reflects the strength of our industrial triad—Stevens Aerospace, Garmin, and Amentum—and demonstrates how government and industry can rapidly deliver modernized capability that positions Army Aviation for the future fight”.
Running in parallel with Stevens’ military/government and special mission programs, Stevens has a near continual flow of G1000 NXi installations upgrading King Air flight decks improving the safety and efficiency of King Air operators throughout the United States. "As someone who works closely with King Air operators every day, I've seen firsthand how the Garmin G1000 NXi enhances both the flying experience and aircraft capability”, said Rob Reed, Director of Avionics at Stevens Aerospace. “It remains the avionics solution we recommend most often because it delivers the performance, reliability, and long-term value our customers need.”
