James Scott Smith, affectionately known as "Smitty," is one of these individuals, bringing over 22 years of experience and a passion for problem-solving to his role. Starting in line service and working his way up to an aircraft technician, Smitty’s journey reflects not just his skill, but also the strong relationships he has built with both colleagues and customers.

"I started in line service and quickly realized that I loved the hands-on nature of the work. It’s what kept me engaged and challenged," Smitty says. "The variety of tasks I handle daily is what makes the job interesting. No two days are the same, and that keeps me on my toes."

Smitty’s technical expertise is truly a product of his journey through various roles at Stevens Aerospace. From working as a crew lead to managing complex repairs and troubleshooting, Smitty thrives in the fast-paced world of aviation. One thing that stands out about Smitty’s work is his genuine desire to solve problems, something he believes is at the core of his job.

"I’ve always enjoyed problem-solving. It’s not just about fixing things—it’s about making sure our customers are taken care of," Smitty shares. "When you fix something, it’s not just a mechanical solution; it’s about providing peace of mind. That’s what matters most to our clients."

Building long-term relationships with customers is another aspect of Smitty’s work that he values deeply. He’s known for his exceptional customer service and the personal touch he adds to every interaction.

"I talk to some of my customers almost weekly. Over the years, we’ve developed a trust that goes beyond just business," Smitty explains. "I want them to know that I’m not just fixing their aircraft—I’m looking out for them and their operations. They know I’m always here to help them, no matter what."
