Employee Highlight: Gary Brown, Trusted TSR with Veteran Precision
Gary Brown is the go-to expert when it comes to bridging the gap between our shop floors and our customers’ cockpits. With nearly four decades in aviation and 18 years at Stevens under his belt, Gary’s combination of Marine Corps rigor and hands-on avionics mastery means every project gets the attention—and the advice—it deserves.
From Marine Corps Avionics to Corporate Aviation
“I started my avionics journey in the Marine Corps back in 1985,” Gary recalls. After serving as an avionics technician and drone instructor, he transitioned into corporate aviation. In January 2007, he and his wife relocated to Tennessee—and eight months later, he was managing our avionics department. Today, as a Technical Service Representative, Gary draws on every facet of that experience to guide customers through the complexities of maintenance, interiors, and cutting-edge cockpit upgrades.
A Day in Gary’s World
Gary’s alarm goes off early—he’s in the office by 6:00 AM, powering up his computer and wrapping up quotes from the day before. At 6:40 AM, he joins the morning meeting to align with department heads on the week’s schedule. Much of his day is spent on the phone or face-to-face with operators, answering questions, refining proposals, and ensuring our teams in maintenance, avionics, and interiors all have what they need to deliver on time—and on spec.
People First, Always
“What I love most is the relationships,” Gary says. “Some of my best friends started as customers.” Whether it’s troubleshooting an unexpected wiring challenge or advising on the latest Garmin upgrade, Gary’s priority is to earn—then keep—every customer’s trust. “Our business runs on relationships,” he explains. “It only takes one misstep to break them, and years to rebuild.”
The Stevens Difference
“At Stevens, we care—about quality, about safety, and about our customers’ peace of mind.” Gary works closely with Avionics Manager Curtis, Interior Manager Ken, Maintenance Manager Evan, and the rest of our leadership team to ensure a seamless, “no one stands alone” experience. “Sometimes our personal touch means telling a customer what they don’t want,” he laughs, “so they end up with exactly what they need.”
Staying Ahead of Technology
Gary devours Avionics News to keep tabs on innovations—from auto-throttle and autoland systems to emerging hazard-awareness integrations. “When customers ask ’What’s new?’ I’m ready with answers,” he notes. His broad background empowers Stevens to tackle full-aircraft upgrades—interiors, avionics, and maintenance—in one cohesive program.
Words of Wisdom
“If you’re just starting out, stay humble—always be ready to learn. I still learn something new every single day,” Gary advises. “Aviation demands integrity and curiosity. Without them, you’ll fall behind.”
Proud to Be Part of 75 Years
“To be here for Stevens’ 75th anniversary is a real honor,” Gary reflects. “Few companies last that long unless their people truly care. That culture is why we’ve thrived for nearly a century.”
One Promise to Our Customers
“Here at Stevens, we’ve always got your back—and we really care.”
A big thank you to Gary for 18 years of dedication to aviation and 18 years of service helping our customers navigate every technical challenge!
