Employee Highlight: Rob Reed, Guiding Innovation in Aircraft Modifications

At Stevens Aerospace, innovation takes flight every day—thanks in large part to leaders like Rob Reed. As the Director of Aircraft Modifications, Rob is at the helm of some of the most advanced and intricate upgrade projects in the aviation industry. His work is less about titles and more about impact—driving technology forward, improving the customer experience, and ensuring Stevens remains on the cutting edge of aircraft modernization.

IMG_2810Rob’s journey to Stevens began with a solid foundation in engineering and a passion for aviation that naturally evolved into a leadership role overseeing aircraft modifications. Today, he leads a team focused on major upgrades like cockpit modernizations, interior retrofits, custom installations, and integration of next-gen avionics systems. Under his direction, Stevens has delivered countless tailored modification solutions to customers across civilian and government sectors.

“Aircraft today are flying longer and being pushed further,” Rob explains. “Our goal is to give them a second life—modernize what’s inside, update the technology, and ensure they meet both current and future mission demands.”

Whether it’s transforming a flight deck with touchscreen technology or outfitting an aircraft with advanced surveillance systems, Rob's team is known for taking on complex challenges and delivering with precision. He works closely with engineering, design, and production teams to ensure that every modification is not only functional, but seamlessly integrated and built to last.

A key part of his role is staying ahead of the curve. “A big part of what I do is tracking where aviation is headed—understanding what’s coming next, whether it’s regulatory changes or emerging tech—and making sure Stevens is ready to deliver it.”

Rob’s leadership also plays a major role in developing customer relationships. For many clients, a modification project is a major investment, and Rob ensures the process is clear, collaborative, and customer-focused from start to finish. He listens to what operators need and works to provide solutions that improve performance, safety, and long-term value.IMG_7126

“We’re not just putting in a new box or screen,” Rob says. “We’re enhancing capability. We’re making the aircraft smarter, safer, and more efficient. And that’s what really drives us.”

Rob’s connection to aviation runs deep. He humbly began his career washing dishes at his family's airport diner, went on to work at several prominent MROs, and eventually joined Stevens Aerospace. Through decades of change, what’s kept him here isn’t just the work—it’s the people.image000001

“I’ve worked with incredibly talented folks here. People who care deeply about the craft and about doing right by our customers,” Rob shares. “That’s what makes Stevens different. It’s not just the history—it’s the heart.”

As Stevens celebrates 75 years of service, leaders like Rob Reed remind us that the legacy isn’t just in the aircraft—it’s in the people who have poured their passion, talent, and dedication into every project. For Rob, every modification is another opportunity to help shape the future of flight while honoring the legacy of excellence that came before him.
