Employee Highlight: Sandy Macnab - 23 Years of Dedication, Quality, and Teamwork

With over two decades of experience at Stevens Aerospace, Sandy Macnab has become a cornerstone of the wire shop and a driving force behind quality assurance in our government programs. Known for her dedication, technical expertise, and tireless pursuit of improvement, Sandy represents the very best of what Stevens stands for.

A Lifelong Passion for Aviation Sandy Macnab Airforce School
Sandy’s aviation journey began with a love for aircraft at a young age, eventually leading her to join the Air Force in 1986. She worked on B-52 bombers and KC-135 tankers at Castle Air Force Base as a fuel systems technician — a role that set the tone for the rest of her impressive career.

From Nursing School to Aircraft Cabling
After the Air Force, Sandy explored a brief stint in nursing but quickly realized her true calling was still in aviation. She earned her Airframe and Powerplant License from Cheyenne Aerotech and went on to work with industry giants like Lockheed, Avionics Specialties, and Rockwell Collins. From inspecting weep holes on C-141s to helping design the Premier 1 Jet, Sandy’s hands-on experiences span both military and commercial aviation.

Making Stevens Her Home
Sandy’s journey at Stevens has spanned over two decades, and during that time she’s become an integral part of the wire shop — not just in her role in quality assurance, but in the many hats she wears every day. From producing termination sheets to building kits, coordinating with technicians, and even stepping in as a part-time supervisor, Sandy is involved in nearly every step of the process.

But she’ll be the first to tell you it’s not a one-person job. “It’s a team effort,” she says, crediting her coworkers — especially Billy Hank Smith — for helping move every project forward. That collaborative mindset, combined with a workplace where your voice matters and your contributions are recognized, is what’s made Stevens feel like home for all these years.

"If you look up dedication, loyalty, competence, and determination in a dictionary, you will see Sandy Macnab’s name," says Jim Williams, Senior Vice President of Stevens Aerospace. "She is a great asset to the company and employees. She is always ready, willing, and able to provide help to anyone who asks. She has trained the wire shop techs to produce an extremely high-quality product. She exemplifies the One Team, One Fight motto." Sandy

Why Sandy Stays
“What I love most is improving how we work and helping others learn,” Sandy says. “It’s about quality, saving time and money, and doing it as a team.”
She also credits the family feel at Stevens: “You’re not just an employee number here. People know your name. You matter.”

One moment that really stood out to Sandy was when Tom Foley, the owner of the company, visited the wire shop. In passing, she mentioned how hot it got back there — not as a formal request, just casual conversation. Within a couple of days, air conditioning units were installed. It was a small thing, but it spoke volumes.

On another visit, Tom walked in, greeted Sandy by name, and complimented the quality of the harness work. Moments like that — where leadership not only shows up, but truly sees and values the people doing the work — reinforce what makes Stevens different.

It’s that small-company feel. You’re not just a number here. People know your name, they listen, and they follow through. And for Sandy, after more than two decades with the company, that kind of culture still matters most.

Wisdom for the Next Generation Sandy M
Sandy’s advice to those entering aviation?
“Have a desire to learn, own your mistakes, and never say ‘it’s not my job.’ Aviation is a team effort — it takes a village.”
She also stresses the importance of integrity and attitude: “Training never stops, and showing up with a great attitude is key.”

In Her Words
If Sandy could sum up Stevens in just a few words?
“Family values, high-quality service, and a team that always delivers — on time, on budget, on target.”

Thank you, Sandy, for your dedication, expertise, and the heart you bring to the team every day — Stevens wouldn’t be the same without you.
